Nestled deep within the Pisgah National Forest of Western North Carolina, Camp Daniel Boone (CDB) is widely regarded as one of the premier scouting destinations in the United States. Located in Haywood County, near the Little East Fork of the Pigeon River, it holds the distinction of being the highest elevation Scout camp east of the Mississippi River. This high-altitude setting provides a cool, mountainous climate that serves as a rugged backdrop for scouts seeking both traditional merit badge programs and intense high-adventure challenges.
The heart of the camp is its Base Camp program, which utilizes 700 acres of pristine wilderness and 22 distinct campsites. The program is designed to cater to scouts of all ages and ranks, offering a massive variety of merit badges.
Diverse Instruction: Scouts can participate in everything from high-tech STEM programs to traditional Wilderness Skills.
Boonesboro Village: One of the camp's most unique features is Boonesboro Village, a living history area where scouts immerse themselves in 18th-century life. Here, they practice heritage crafts such as blacksmithing, pottery, candle making, and leatherwork.
Aquatics: Lake Allen, which is stocked with trout, serves as the center for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing activities.
